Top Foods and Beverages to Battle Tinnitus

By Dr. Douglas | October 3, 2025

Across large observational studies, more fruit, dietary fiber, dairy, seafood, and (surprisingly) caffeine are each associated with lower odds of developing tinnitus, while high-fat dietary patterns and worse lipid profiles link to higher odds of tinnitus. These are associations, not proof, but they point in a consistent direction. The foods listed below may help reduce the severity of tinnitus symptoms by improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and supporting nerve health. Here are 10 foods to consider adding to your diet:

Nuts and Seeds

Walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds are a great source of magnesium and omega-3s, these support auditory health and reduce systemic inflammation.

Beans and Lentils

Rich in folate and zinc, these legumes support blood flow and cellular repair in the inner ear.

Leafy Greens

Spinach, Kale, and Swiss Chard are high in magnesium and vitamins A and C, which support nerve function and blood flow to the inner ear.

Berries
Bananas

Berries

Blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids, berries help combat oxidative stress, which may damage auditory cells and worsen tinnitus.

Pineapple

Contains bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce ear-related inflammation.

Bananas

Spinach, Kale, and Swiss Chard are high in magnesium and vitamins A and C, which support nerve function and blood flow to the inner ear.

turmeric and ginger

Turmeric and Ginger

Turmeric is a golden-hued spice known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to its active compound curcumin. Chronic inflammation is believed to play a role in tinnitus for some individuals, and turmeric may help reduce that underlying inflammation. Incorporating turmeric into meals or teas—especially with black pepper to enhance absorption—can be a flavorful way to support overall ear and nerve health.

Ginger is a warming root with natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It also promotes healthy circulation, which is essential for optimal inner ear function. Some people with tinnitus report symptom relief when ginger is included regularly in their diet, whether through fresh slices in tea, grated into meals, or taken as a supplement. Its ability to ease nausea and dizziness also makes it a helpful ally for those with vestibular symptoms.

Moderate Caffeine

Surprisingly, some studies suggest caffeine may reduce tinnitus risk in certain individuals, though effects vary. Monitor your own response.

Cruciferous Vegetables

These vegetables are loaded with antioxidants and fiber, which may help reduce inflammation and improve circulation.
